Salt Spray & Corrosion Resistance Test Data
Corrosion resistance data for stainless steel cable ties and metallic components. Tested per ASTM B117 (neutral salt spray) and ISO 9227. Data for SS304, SS316, and coated variants.
ASTM B117 Salt Spray Testing
Samples are exposed to a continuous 5% NaCl fog at 35C. We test for 96, 240, 500, and 1000 hours. Evaluation per ASTM D610 (rust grade), D714 (blister rating), and visual inspection for pitting and crevice corrosion.
SS304 vs SS316 in Marine Environments
SS304: suitable for inland, urban, and light industrial. SS316: required for coastal (within 5km of sea), offshore, and chemical processing. The 2% molybdenum in SS316 provides critical pitting resistance against chlorides.
PVC Coated Ties
Our black PVC coated stainless steel ties add an extra barrier layer. The PVC coating provides: electrical insulation, additional corrosion protection in buried/underground applications, and protection against galvanic corrosion when in contact with dissimilar metals.
| Material | 96h | 240h | 500h | 1000h | Marine Suitable |

FAQ
Can I use SS304 for outdoor applications near the ocean?
Not recommended within 5km of saltwater coastlines. Salt spray will cause pitting corrosion on SS304 within 6-12 months. Use SS316 for all coastal and offshore applications.
Do you offer accelerated corrosion testing for specific environments?
Yes. We can perform cyclic corrosion testing (CCT) per ISO 16701, SO2 testing per ISO 6988, and custom chemical exposure testing. Contact us with your environmental specifications.
