Halogen-Free & Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) Cable Ties
Halogen-free and LSZH cable ties for transit, tunnel, marine, and enclosed applications. IEC 60754 and IEC 61034 compliant materials.
Overview
When halogen-containing materials burn, they release toxic and corrosive gases lethal to occupants and corrosive to equipment. Our halogen-free cable ties are tested to IEC 60754 and IEC 61034, suitable for railway, tunnel, marine, data center, and any enclosed occupied space.
Key Standards & Requirements
| Standard | Description |
|---|---|
| IEC 60754-1 | Determination of halogen acid gas content. Halogen-free: <5 mg/g HCl equivalent. |
| IEC 60754-2 | Determination of acidity and conductivity. pH ≥4.3, conductivity ≤10 µS/mm. |
| IEC 61034-2 | Measurement of smoke density. LSZH: light transmittance ≥60%. |
| EN 45545-2 | Railway fire safety — requires halogen-free AND low smoke for interior applications. |
| IEC 60092-101 | Marine electrical — requires halogen-free for passenger ships. |

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between halogen-free and LSZH?
Halogen-free means no halogens — tested to IEC 60754. LSZH additionally requires low smoke emission — tested to IEC 61034. All LSZH is halogen-free, but not all halogen-free is LSZH.
Are standard nylon 6.6 cable ties halogen-free?
Standard PA66 base polymer is halogen-free, but some flame-retardant grades use brominated additives. Our halogen-free PA66 uses phosphorus-based flame retardants.
Where are halogen-free cable ties required?
Mandatory for European railway vehicles (EN 45545-2), passenger ship interiors (IEC 60092-101), tunnel infrastructure (NFPA 502), and increasingly data centers and public buildings.
